(BGO) - With a large growing area and output, and diverse agricultural products, the sale of agricultural products is an important task of Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province). Besides the traditional ways, recently, the district has taken many solutions to help locals reach consumers faster and increase income.
This crop, when coming to Bao Son commune, it is easy to see trucks rushing around the hillsides to transport pineapples for consumption.
Lam Van Van from Dong Cong village said: “My family has nearly 4 hectares of pineapple. Despite hard work, growing pineapple produces a higher economic efficiency than many other crops. With the current selling price of 7,500 - 8,000 VND/kg, the profit is about 150 million VND (6,480 USD) per ha per crop. Now, purchasers drive trucks to the gardens buy the product. Recently I was guided how to sell pineapples on the Internet and social networks. As a result, Bao Son pineapple is known by more people”.
Bao Son pineapple, known as "Luc Nam sweet pineapple", is being supported to be sold on the e-commerce platform Postmart.vn.
According to Duong Ngoc Vuong, Chairman of the Bao Son commune Farmers' Association, the whole commune has 250 hectares of pineapple, mainly in the villages of Dong Cong, Quat Son, Ha Son 1 and Hue Van 2, with average output hitting 5,000 tonnes per year. Bao Son pineapple is favored by domestic and foreign markets thanks to its good quality and safe production.
Bao Son commune has just established a community digital technology group with the task of popularising local agricultural products on the Internet and helping farmers access e-commerce platforms.
Last April, Duong Ngoc Vuong himself participated in a programme to put agricultural products on the e-commerce platform Postmart.vn of Vietnam Post. Currently, Bao Son pineapple also has a stall on this platform.
The Luc Nam Safe Agricultural Products Cooperative in Doi Ngo township cooperates with farmers in the district to supply the market with about 200-300 tonnes of melons of all kinds and asparagus. Nguyen Duy Phuong, director of the cooperative, said besides the chain of stores in the province and many other provinces and cities such as Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Hung Yen, its sales network is also available on cyber space. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, consumers ordered the cooperative’s products via Facebook and Zalo in large quantities.
The total planting area of Luc Nam district annually reaches more than 36,000 hectares and the average agro-forestry-fishery production value is more than 3.5 trillion VND (151.3 million USD) per year. Many fruit products such custard apple and pineapple have developed their own collective trademarks, with geographical indications since 2020. In addition, the district has promoted commodity agricultural production, while maintaining 33 large-scale model fields and 41 high-tech models.
Nguyen Huu Luan, deputy head of the district's Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, said there are currently a number of e-commerce platforms such as Voso.vn and Postmart.vn that have connected to sell the district's agricultural products like Luc Nam custard apple and sweet pineapple, jícama, and Cantaloupe. However, this form is still new to farmers and many of them are not familiar with modern selling methods.
In the coming time, the district will continue to promote the development of agricultural production, focusing on developing concentrated commodity production, applying high and safe technology, and organizing value chains. It will strengthen trade promotion for key products, guiding farmer households on digital skills to participate in activities in the digital environment. Growers will be instructed to register an account to bring agricultural products to the platforms and create an online payment account for transactions.
The district will support domestic and international trade promotion, provide information on markets, input materials, demand and production capacity, weather, crops, seed and fertilizer prices, thereby promoting products and expanding markets for agricultural products of the district both at home and abroad.
