(BGO) – As of June 6, Bac Giang province harvested and consumed nearly 50,000 tonnes of lychees, including more than 45,700 tonnes of early ripening lychees and 4,200 tonnes of main season fruits with the price of 12,000 – 32,000 VND per kg, reported the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
Due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, this year the consumption of local special fruits is boosted in domestic market with sold quantity of over 33,600 tonnes while more than 16,300 tonnes were exported.
The farmers in Dong Trang village, My An commune (Luc Ngan district) harvest lychees.
To facilitate the lychee consumption, the province set up about 200 weighting points, Production Support Teams, Inter-sectorial Working Group in each locality and hotline to timely handle the difficulties and obstacles during purchasing, transporting and proceeding lychee import-export procedures.
On June 6, six major e-commerce platforms in Vietnam including Sendo, Voso (Viettel Post), Tiki, Shopee, Postmart (VNpost) and Lazada officially opened to sell Bac Giang lychee. It is the first time Bac Giang lychee has been distributed orderly and systematically on such big platforms.
After the customers make orders on the platform, the local farmers start harvesting the fruits then pack them on foam box in cold condition properly, stamp for origin traceability and quickly transport under various methods (frozen truck, airline) to the requested addresses. The orders are normally delivered within two or three days.
Bac Giang lychees are sold on Vosco.vn.
According to the leader of Luc Ngan district People’s Committee, it is now the main lychee season with high quality and tasty flavour. The products promoted on these platforms are produced under VietGAP standard with OCOP certificate.
Since the pilot time (late May 2021), 6 e-commerce platforms have sold about 300 tonnes of Bac Giang lychee at the price of 20,000 – 40,000 VND per kg.
Besides, the e-commerce transaction platform of Luc Ngan lychee (website: dacsanlucngan.vn) has coordinated to the local cooperatives to sell 7 tonnes of lychee with average price of 25,000 – 30,000 VND per kg for nearly one week. Most of the customers are from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
