(BGO) – 2019 witnessed a great tourism development in Son Dong district, Bac Giang province with sharply increased number of visitors and tourism revenue. The tourism potentials and advantages have been promoted to open a new socio-economic development to the highland.
Recently, Son Dong district has well known as an attractive destination to the visitors in and outside the province. The district is prominent for its large forest area including both primitive forest with diverse animal and floral systems, typically Tay Yen Tu Spiritual – Ecotourism complex (Tay Yen Tu complex), Dong Cao plateau in Thach Son commune, Khe Ro primitive forest in An Lac commune; Khe Chao lake in Long Son commune...
Tay Yen Tu Spiritual – Ecological Tourism Complex.
On the tour to Tay Yen Tu complex, Nguyen Duc Hieu in Van Quan ward, Ha Dong district (Hanoi) shared: “Previously, I knew that Yen Tu can be reached only from Quang Ninh province. Now, there is a direct route from Bac Giang province thus my family and I organize the tour. Though my parents are now over 70 years old, they are very happy to join this trip. After taking the cable car to the Upper (Thuong) pagoda, they are able to hike and enjoy the landscape. With the smooth road, beauty landscape, sufficient basic service, surely I will introduce to my friends to visit this land”.
According to representative from Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company, the project of Tay Yen Tu complex consists of 3 stages, starting from 2014 and to be completed in 2025.

The items of the first stage have been basically completed, including upgrading the traffic route from provincial road No 293 to the Lower (Ha) pagoda, building Dong Thong water supply station and power substation, completing the construction of Upper pagoda and several items, building and operating the cable car linking Upper and Lower pagodas among others.
Thus, the tourism complex welcomed more than 150,000 tourist arrivals with total revenue of 25 billion VND (over 1 million USD).
To exploit the advantages of spiritual and ecotourism in close connection to the experimental and community based tourism, Son Dong district oriented to develop sustainable tourism which focuses on boosting up the communication to raise the people’s awareness about forest protection, environment preservation and launching the integration projects to enhance the tourism serving skill to the locals.

According to the Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee Giap Van Tam, the district has actively drawn and prioritized the capable tourism investors, especially in the field of infrastructure, entertainment, restaurant and accommodation.
At the same time, it continues urging the provincial authority to pay due attention to the detail planning of local tourism development, promoting the destinations, developing the infrastructure, training the human resources to meet the highly increasing demand from the visitors.
The district has taken great effort to preserve the unique cultural identities of the ethnic minority groups such as Cap sac ritual, food asking ceremony of Dao people; various festivals of swimming, Sloong hao singing of the Nung; Then and Sinh ca folk singing festivals of the Cao Lao; traditional herbal medicine making; brocade waving of the Dao under Yen Tu mountain among others.
In 2019, the district welcomed more than 500,000 tourism arrivals, up nearly 140 percent comparing to the figure in 2018, including some 3,200 foreign visitors (up 145 percent). The tourism revenue hit over 98 billion VND (4.2 million USD), making nearly 40 percent increase.

The survey from the Steering Board for district Tourism Development proved that over 90 percent of tourists positively evaluated Son Dong for its beautiful landscape and friendly people while 100 percent of visitors considered the destination suitable to the nature and adventure lovers.
In the upcoming time, the district will further invest in tourism development, organize more attractive and diverse activities to introduce and promote the district tourism potentials to the tourists, especially the highlight of Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival in early 2020.
