(BGO) - On the morning of April 24, at Square 3/2 (Bac Giang City), Bac Giang Newspaper, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the provincial Department of Education and Training and the provincial Youth Union jointly held the 39th Bac Giang Newspaper Run 2022.
Due to the complicated Covid-19 situation, this season, the Organizing Committee decided not to hold the mass race and maintain the marathon with the participation of nearly 300 athletes from districts and city; the provincial Military Command and the district-level Divisions of Education and Training.

A new feature of this year's tournament was that athletes with high achievements would be given medals and included in the final round of the provincial Sports Games 2022.
Competing at the event, runners from the units all showed a high determination. The group of districts and city competed in the men’s 6km, the women's 3km, the young men's 4.5km and the young women's 2.5km. In the category for students from the district Divisions of Education and Training, athletes competing in the men's 3km and women's 2km events.
After half a day of fierce competition, the 39th Bac Giang Newspaper Run 2022 was a great success. The Organizing Board awarded 12 sets of medals to athletes with excellent achievements.
The first prize in the young women's and young men's events in the category of districts and city belonged to Mac Thi Thu Trang (Lang Giang) with a time of 9 minutes 5 seconds and Nguyen Anh Tuan (Lang Giang) with 17 minutes 3 seconds.
In the women's 3km event in the category of districts and city, the first prize was pocketed by Nguyen Thi Thanh (Lang Giang) with a record of 9 minutes and 50 seconds. In the men's 6km event of the same category, the first prize came to Pham Tien San (Tan Yen) with 16 minutes 39 seconds.
In the category of the Divisions of Education and Training, in the women's 2 km event, Tong Thi Hien (Luc Nam) secured the first prize with a record of 5 minutes 58 seconds. In the men's 3km event, the first prize belonged to Giap Huy Hoang (Luc Nam) with 11 minutes and 5 seconds. In the women's team event of the same category, the Lang Giang team ranked first, the Tan Yen team second and the Luc Nam team third. Meanwhile, the men’s team of Luc Nam ranked first, Lang Giang second, Tan Yen third.

In order to encourage and reward runners with high achievements at the tournament, the Bac Giang provincial Youth Union presented certificates of merit to six athletes who won the first prize in the competition contents. Overall, the Lang Giang delegation ranked first, Yen Dung district second and Tan Yen third.
The Bac Giang Newspaper Run is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the unification of the country on April 30 (1975-2022) and the International Labor Day on May 1, towards the 31st SEA Games hosted by Vietnam.
After many years of successful organization, the tournament continues to affirm itself as a prestigious and quality playground that promptly discovers young talents to add to the provincial team and continues to train and develop talents for high achievements at national and regional tournaments.
