We proposed and got approval of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" badge to Giap Van Tuyen".
Painful but proud
Tuyen's house is located in a small alley along provincial road 295. Right from the morning of September 21, many friends, relatives and colleagues were present here to prepare for his funeral. White wreaths and fragrant incense were moved to commemorate the brave young man. In the afternoon of the same day, many people and family members took Tuyen to his final resting place at his hometown cemetery.
According to the plan, on September 22, under the authorization of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the Bac Giang province’s Youth Union will coordinate with relevant units to hand over the "Brave Youth" badge to Giap Van Tuyen’s family representative.
Tuyen's death at his young age left a huge void for his family and relatives, especially when about a month earlier, his father also suddenly died while working at a construction site in the locality.
Tuyen is the youngest son in a farming family and he has two older brothers. Tuyen was not married yet so he lived with his mother. After finishing the secondary education, Tuyen quit school, then learned to drive a car and applied for a job at a nearby business to support his family.
Knowing Tuyen’s death, his mother fainted many times. Just over a month, the woman had to witness the passing away of her two most loved ones.
Giap Thanh Xuan, an older brother of Tuyen, said: “Our family was in great pain when we heard that our youngest brother died. But I am also very proud, because he did the right things that my father, a veteran, had taught us”.
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee decides to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" badge to Giap Van Tuyen.
Not only being a good and filial son, Tuyen also actively engaged in cultural, cultural, sports, and volunteer movements of local youth.
Although his life ended, Giap Van Tuyen will forever be a shining example for other youth union members to follow in terms of his courage and willingness to devote himself to save people.
