(BGO)- With creative methods in propaganda, mobilization and organization, the youth unions at all levels in Bac Giang city have attracted involvement of young people, collectives and individuals to implement many activities for the community.
Amid complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, the youth unionists from the communes in Bac Giang city proactively delivered flyers, assembled dummies and panels for visual advocacy contributing to enhancing people’s awareness of pandemic prevention.
Members of the youth union of Xuong Giang ward mobilize donation from society to provide necessary commodities to needy people affected by Covid-19 pandemic.
This time, the youth unions in the locality concentrated on mobilizing and guiding people and business households to set up Bluezone app on smart phone to quickly detect people who have Covid-19 for active prevention.
Particularly, the municipal Youth Union of Bac Giang city is the only unit in the province in collaboration with the fatherland front committees of the wards and town organizing the “Vietnamese heart” programme to mobilize support for needy people due to impacts of Covid-19 pandemic.
In April, the youth unions mobilized a number of organizations, individuals and enterprises to donate cash, rice and necessities with total value of nearly 2 billion VND (86,300 USD) to open “0 VND supermarkets” in the wards and towns to provide needy households with 1 gift set weekly including rice, eggs, cooking oil and noodle contributing to stabilizing their living amid the pandemic.
According to Nguyen Van Tien, Secretary of the Youth union of Xuong Giang ward, receiving and supporting methods were implemented transparently for right beneficiaries, which have been highly appreciated and supported by local people.
Many business households donated hundreds of kilos of rice and tens of boxes of instant noodle. Specially, some children gave tens of million VND from their savings to help people facing difficult circumstances.
The outstanding among the activities for the community is sponsoring needy students by the youth unions in the city. Since 2019, the grassroots-level youth unions have sponsored more than 70 primary and secondary students in the locality with 200,000 to 300,000 VND (8.6 to 13 USD) for each per month.
In order to keep up volunteer activities, the youth unions have mobilized and received proactive response from young people. Several youth union cadres and young people spend from 100,000 to 200,000 VND (4.3 to 8.6 USD) per month to donate the fund for needy students.
Some members of the youth union who are owners of the mechanic manufacturing and processing establishments designed and created entertainment equipments to give local children.
The youth unions of Tho Xuong, Xuong Giang and Tran Nguyen Han wards called their members and local people to donated fund, green trees and organize waste exchange for green trees monthly and quarterly contributing to raising people’s awareness of environment protection and building green lifestyle.
With meaningful and specific activities, the youth unions in the city have received active response and support from many agencies, enterprises and donors.
Particularly, since early this year, the youth union of Dinh Ke ward has mobilized donation from social source with 100 gift sets for needy children, collaborated with the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and Hanoi - Bac Giang Hospital to provide free health check, treatment consultancy and medicine to about 500 former young volunteer soldiers, national contributors and children in the locality on the Children’s Day (1 June) and War Invalids and Martyrs Day
According to Pham Kieu Hung, Secretary of the municipal Youth Union, in promoting the youth’s spirit of volunteerism, the grassroots-level youth unions have mobilized young people to proactively participate in volunteer activities for the community and society.
In response, all youth union cadres at all levels, young people in the armed forces, civil servants and students in the city since 2019 have registered to implement the “2 good deeds” movement quarterly or yearly including 1 good deed for themselves and one for the community and society.
According to the report, 100 percent of the youth union cadres and more than 95 percent of young people fulfilled the registered contents. Bac Giang municipal Youth Union has been awarded for the outstanding achievements in volunteer activities for the community for many years.
