Peak month “For the poor” launched

(BGO) - In order to implement the action month “For the Poor” 2019 launched from 17 October to 18 November, the Fatherland Front and the Board for mobilising “Fund for the poor” of Bac Giang city in northern province of Bac Giang mobilized each public official and laborer in the armed forces, enterprises and public-service delivery agencies to donate at least one-day’s wage/income. 

Each household is mobilized from 20,000 VND (0.9 USD) while business establishments are expected to donate at least 50,000 VND (2.1 USD)

Poor people in Dong Tien commune, Yen The district have their health checked.

Private enterprises are called to spend part of the company’s profit to donate the fund. The donated fund resources will be used to help poor households to build and repair houses, support economic development or surmount unexpected difficulties.

The city planned to build and repair houses for 14 poor households while supporting economic development for 11 households.

Programme helps poor students pursue study
The “Vi em hieu hoc” (Because you are studious) programme has presented 125,000 scholarships worth 125 billion VND (5.37 million USD) to studious pupils in disadvantaged communes nationwide since it was launched in 2014.
Scholarships presented to poor students in Binh Duong
The Republic of Korea General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and the Korean Business Association in the southern province of Binh Duong presented 219 scholarships worth over 700 million VND (30,400 USD) to poor students with outstanding academic performance on October 7.

Seventy businesses, organisations and individuals who set bright examples in helping the poor were honoured at a meeting held in Hanoi on October 1 by the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programmes and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.
US organisations support disabled, poor people in Thua Thien-Hue
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 9 received assistance from some US organisations to support medical checks and treatment and life improvement for local disabled and low-income people.
