Trinh Duy Hieu wins silver at IPhO 2019

(BGO) – Trinh Duy Hieu, student at Bac Giang
High School for the Gifted (Bac Giang province) won a silver medal at the 50th International
Physics Olympiad 2019 (IPhO 2019) held in Tel Aviv city (Israel). All
5 members in Vietnamese team bagged medals with 3 golds and 2 silvers.
The IphO 2019 drew 360 contestants from 78 countries and territories joining 2 individual competitions in professional theory and practising at the laboratory.
The three gold medals were won by Tran Xuan Tung of the Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Xuan Ung from the Hanoi University of Science's High School for the Gifted, and Nguyen Khanh Linh from Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa Province.

The silver winners were Le Viet Hoang from the Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted in Ha Nam province and Trinh Duy Hieu.
The Organization Board applied stricter rule in selecting the contestants to award the medals and honoring certificate in this event. Only 50 percent of participants were prized including 8 percent of gold medals and 17 percent of silver medals.
All members of Vietnam’s Olympic Team participate in the International Physics Olympiad 2019 in Israel.
As schedule, Trinh Duy Hieu and other members in Vietnam’s Olympic Team will arrive at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) around 10 am on July 16.
Vietnamese students triumph at regional, int’l Olympiads
This year, all 38 students of seven teams who took part in regional and international Olympiads won medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) said on October 15.
