To encourage and inspire them, the school has effectively launched the movement of “Accompany impoverished friend” with many practical and meaningful activities.

According to the Head Mistress Nguyen Thi Anh Duong, at the beginning of each year, the teachers in charge of each class are urged to check and make a list of difficult students.

Teachers at Huong Vy Junior High School visit and present the gift to the impoverished student.

Apart from the policy to reduce or exempt the studying fee depending on each case, the school has suitable support method such as new bicycle, new clothes, studying tool or gift worth from 200 – 300,000 VND (8.6 – 12.9 USD) on the occasion of the new academic year, Lunar New Year and others.

In the academic year 2018 – 2019, the teachers visit each family to present the gift to the students instead of doing this at the school so as to deeply understand their circumstances. Typically Nguyen Thi Ai Lam at class 8B lives with her grandmother in group 6, Bo Man hamlet after her parent divorce. The old and weak grandmother relies all on the social allowance.

“I am over 80 years old and so weak to join the regular parent meetings. At that time, the teacher in charge of Lam’s class comes in person to inform her studying status. Recently, the teachers at school have visited and gifted to our family. We are so moved. The small present and encouragement from the teachers will help my grandchild continue the school dream”, shared Lam’s grandmother.

Due to the difficulties, when completing school time, the impoverished students have to work to support the families that more or less causes an impact on the study. To support each other, the “Friend helps friend” team is formed in each class in which the excellent and goods students help the weak ones with the great facilitation from the teachers.

Particularly, Nguyen Thi Ai Lam is accompanied by Vuong Thuy Linh who helps Lam reach the fair level from a weak student. Teacher Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao gives extra-class to Nguyen Duc Thang in class 6A and helps him become a good student from fair level. Especially, thanks to the guideline from teacher Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Duc Cong at class 9A won second prize at Biology in the recent district contest for the excellent student.

From the love and responsibility, teachers in Huong Vy Junior High School have called for the kind hearts to support and pay more attention to the needy students via practical activities. To date, 53 impoverished students living in the poor and near-poor families have gained good knowledge and actively joined the emulative movements launched by the school and classes.
