(BGO)- With the desire to build a community applying science advances in the modeling industry to gain high economic values, a group of authors launched a start-up project namely “creative industry and cultural industry in 3D printing” for the first time in Bac Giang province in middle 2017.

According to the project, the 3D (three dimensions) printer is applied with a number of technical methods and materials to create real objects from digital files containing three - dimensional data in a computer program or 3D scanner. This method can create patterns faster than other methods of processing 3D objects like cutting, lathing, planning or kneading from tens to some hundreds of times.

In developed countries, the 3D printing technology has dramatically developed for more than one decade but its application is limited due to high costs. “3D printing technology is quite new in Vietnam while it has not been applied in the province. We want to provide vocational guidance, create a playground and motivate scientific researching to help the youth gain incomes while building a community of cooperation and linkages for development from 3D printing services”, said Bui Do Thang, representative of the group of authors.

The new point of this project is that their 3D printers are 5 times cheaper than other available machines in the market depending on each type. As 3D printing service is produced at home, the products’ price is highly competitive. The project is not limited in space, geographical location, participants or equipment. Their products are unique and varied which can be applied in many industries and sectors.

Although the group launched their start-up since middle 2017, they have received many orders for interior decorations of the restaurants, hotels and luxurious resorts in Vietnam worth more than 1 billion VND (42,900 USD).

Their project won the first prize at the creative innovation and start-up contest of Bac Giang province in 2018 and will be introduced at the “National Creative Innovation Day 2018” held in October in Da Nang.

3D printing technology (modeling) is a production process in which a three- dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of materials (plastic, metal or paper).
