The World Technopolis Association (WTA) Summit 2018 kicked off in Binh Duong province on October 11, under the theme ‘Smart City – As an Innovation Engine for Sustainable Growth’.
In his opening speech, WTA President, Her Tae Jeong, stressed that smart cities have become of interest to many countries around the world, including Vietnam and Binh Duong province in particular.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Vu Duc Dam, congratulated the WTA on its 20th founding anniversary, speaking highly of its contributions to the development of technopolises.
He anticipated that science and technology, particularly information technology-based industries, will bring the human race into a new stage of development with a lot of opportunities and challenges.

He expressed his hope that the summit and its related events would provide a platform for managers and scientists to share valuable experience and lessons on innovation and creativity.
Delegates at the summit discussed their views on the governance and sustainable development of science and technology in cities around the world. They are also scheduled to take part in a series of meetings to be held during the three-day event.
