(BGO) - The model of semi-automatic potato
With family's farm work, Thang often helps his parents harvest agricultural products after school time, which took a lot of time and hard efforts. Thus, the student kept wondering how to help his parents harvest potato more quickly to reduce their hard work”. After studying and consulting advice from his teachers, he started researching to invent the semi-automatic harvesting machine.

There are some types of primitive potato harvesting machine at the market which can not classify the potato and is inflexible for different terrains with low efficiency. Hence, Thang tried to seek solutions for these shortcomings.
In March 2017, he applied the knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and mechanic practice to design the product. Thanks to the support of teachers Dao Van Lam, leader of the vocational training group and Vu Van Quy, Secretary of the Youth Union, Thang carried out welding and mounting the machine frames then connecting electronic circuits.
At first, the product consisted of the components such as potato hoeing, leaf cutting, potato loading on the belt conveyor, classifying products and trash as well as cleaning the root.
Representatives of Organization Board and provincial Studying Encouraging Association present certificate of merit to Dang Cong Thang.
Thang made use of second-hand zinc boxes to assemble rectangular machine frames. His first product was quite simple. After some trials, he equipped the machine with single electric motors, brake and drive to facilitate the machine movement. The most important component is the remote motor, which is more advanced than the current machines. Thus, the harvesting time was reduced dramatically.
Besides, he developed and assembled a lighting system and light-sensor circuit so that the machine can run at night. Teacher Bui Thi Mung, Vice Director of the Center said, “We facilitate the students with time arrangement, teacher’s support and fund from 3 to 7 million VND (128- 299 USD) for their studies and creativity”.
