(BGO) - In response to the appeal letter of Secretary of the Bac Giang provincial Party Committee Bui Van Hai and the campaign "Every organization and individual associated with a humanitarian address", over the past nearly one year, 243 households with special difficulties in the locality have received support from donors.
Diversifying forms of support
From the appeal of the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, the family of Nguyen Thi Ha in Vinh Tan village, Luc Son commune (Luc Nam district) has been supported by the provincial Social Insurance Agency to build a new house. Ha, who suffers from congenital heart disease and is alone raising a 5-year-old child, lived in a deteriorated house.
Leaders of Son Dong district, the provincial Red Cross Society and the provincial management board for transport projects present gifts to extremely difficult households in Son Dong district.
Knowing the circumstance of her family, the Party committee and leaders of the provincial Social Insurance Agency raised 50 million VND (2,145 USD) from its staff to help Ha build a new house and buy some essential items. Construction on the 45 sq.m new house was completed last June, helping her gradually stabilize her life.
Visiting the family of Nguyen Van Giang-Do Thi Hang in Thuong village, Bich Son commune together with the officials of the Red Cross Society of Viet Yen district, we were really worried about their life.
In the past, Giang was a construction worker while Hang was a kindergarten teacher. Their life was stable with two small obedient children. About three years ago, Giang’s father suffered from cancer. In early 2017, when working at a construction site in Thai Nguyen province, Giang met a work accident.
After eight months of treatment at various hospitals from provincial-level to central-level ones, Giang overcome the "dangerous condition". However, due to the serious injury, he was paralyzed and all of his activities are supported by others. The family has two people with serious illness, all money saved and borrowed has been poured into treatment.
Sharing difficulties with their family, the provincial Labour Federation has visited and supported 1 million VND (429 USD) for them. Hang said: "This is the third time the provincial Labour Federation has supported my family. This money helps us partially cover our life".
Giving strength to households with special difficulties
Representatives of the provincial Red Cross Society and Viet Yen district hand over support money to poor households in Viet Yen district.
Not only the above-said households, according to the provincial Red Cross Society, but 243 families with special difficulties have also received support from kindhearted organizations and individuals. Since the end of 2017, in response to the appeal of Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Hai and the campaign "Every organization and individual associated with a humanitarian address”, organizations, units and enterprises in the province have mobilized funds from their staff and workers. Thus, the whole political system, enterprises and people have been involved in supporting households with special difficulties.
With the raised capital sources, organizations and individuals have had different ways to support households, depending on their circumstances. Typically, the Department of Transport and Transportation delivered its 10th support for six households in Viet Yen district with 1 million VND (429 USD) each; the Department of Industry and Trade provided 50 million VND (2,145 USD) for the family of Lanh Xuan Thu in Phu Dien commune (Luc Ngan district) to build a house; the Bac Giang Import Export Joint Stock Company directly supported 35 households, with 5 million VND (214 USD) each; the Bac Giang Newspaper presented a breeding cow to a household in Tan Thanh commune (Lang Giang district); and Yen The district assisted five extremely difficult households in building homes, with 30 to 100 million VND (1,287 – 4,290 USD) each.
Le Thi Duyen, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross Society, said that in the coming time, the societies at all levels will continue to popularize the meaning of activities in support of the poor and mobilize the participation of people of all strata.
They will call on organizations, individuals and enterprises to register for long-term humanitarian assistance to a certain address, helping disadvantaged people to overcome difficulties in life under the motto "No one is left behind".
