The members of VRC visited Vi Thi Vung (born in 1993) at Dong Khao hamlet, An Lac commune, Son Dong district on a hot summer day. She lives in extremely difficult conditions. As her parents passed away early, she had to live alone in a remote wood.
When she grew up, she got married to a villager who has the mental problem. After 4 years living together, they have two kids. Their family is living in a mud hut. Vung had to work odd jobs in construction in Long Bien district, Hanoi city to earn their lives. Unfortunately, she got an accident causing brain injury when she was working at the construction site in late August 2017. Sharing with her difficult condition, the members of VRC posted her story on social networks and persuaded their relatives and friends to support Vung’s family.
Thanks to their enthusiasm, after 2 months, VRC mobilized some 10 million VND (440 USD), 100 kilos of rice and a lot of clothes from enterprises and donors to help Vung to cover living expenses and medical costs.
During a volunteer campaign in October 2017 in Muong La district, Son La province, Tran Dinh Hieu, a member of the provincial Red Cross Society, had an opportunity to talk to the friends loving charity work.
As meeting the persons sharing the same thought, Hieu and his friends raised initiative to establish the club named Violet Rose. He explained, “Rose symbolizes love and sharing while violet is a symbol of sincerity”. Thus, VRC was established with 20 members who work in different fields such as public servants, businesspersons or teachers but they share the common of community loving and sharing with needy people.
Tran Dinh Hieu, VRC leader said, “For effective operation of VRC, we discussed to draft a regulation. Accordingly, each member has to post stories and pictures of the needy people on their facebooks to mobilize support from relatives and friends. VRC commits to bringing clothes, living stuff and money directly to needy people”.
The donors will be informed to ensure their supports come to the needy people. VRC has attracted more donors thanks to its transparency and prompt support. Many key members called for a great number of sponsors. Each of them has their own methods to mobilize resources to support needy people.
VRC provides the fund to support Vi Thi Vung in medical cost and living expenses.
