(BGO)- Although she lost the care of her passed away parents, the little girl Nguyen Thu Luyen (born in 2002), a student of 10A2 class, Luc Ngan senior high school No 1, has made great efforts to overcome life challenges.
Nguyen Thu Luyen voices her opinions at the class.
Visiting her at a small house in Moi hamlet, Nghia Ho commune, Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province on a weekend afternoon, we were touched to hear Nguyen Thi Thu Luyen’s sad story. In 2003, Luyen’s father died of a serious disease when she was just nearly 6 months. The difficulties were expected to be over as she was living with her mother but she suffered another big shock. In 2008, her mother died of a traffic accident on her way home after work when Luyen was nearly 6 years old. Then, Luyen was taken care by her grandmother and uncle’s family. However, her uncle’s family also faces economic difficulty. Thus, her weak grandmother has to make pickled vegetables to earn more incomes for her study expenses. The image of her hard-working relatives imprinted on her mind since she was a little girl reminds her to try her best to study and help her family.
Understanding her big loss, Luyen’s grandmother and relatives love and care for her with all their hearts. Besides, she receives supports from her teachers, friends and social organizations. Luyen does not disappoint everyone with her impressive achievements at school i.e. she has been rewarded excellent student for 9 continuous school-years and gained 6 awards at the district’s excellent student competitions.
Mentioning her dream, Luyen said, “I will make great efforts in studying to become a teacher and do charity work to help needy people”. Luyen not only makes efforts in studying, she also proactively takes part in activities of the youth union. Specially, she helps numerous classmates in gaining better learning results. Recently, Luyen has been honoured at the Meeting honouring the outstanding people with disabilities and orphans by the People’s Committee of Luc Ngan district.
