(BGO) - The mud ball wrestling festival is held in Yen Vien village, Van Ha commune (Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province) on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of the fourth lunar month (May 12, 13 and 14) featuring many unique events. With special identities, it has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The unique mud ball wrestling festival in Yen Vien village bears spiritual characteristics of wet rice farmers together with expectation for a favorable year and bumper harvest season. Bac Giang Newspaper would like to introduce some images about the festival preparation.
Muddy pitch is thoroughly prepared as the competition venue of mud ball wrestling festival. On May 12, the village girls in traditional costumes carry water from Cau river to pour into the muddy pitch.

The ball holes are prepared before the event. They are dug nealy one meter deep and half of meter wide in both ends of the muddy pitch. Players compete for the ball. One will score if he takes the ball and push it into the hole.
