Vice Director of Nghia Phuong Sugar Apple Cooperative (Cooperative) Vu Tuan Dung said the Cooperative has bought about one tonnes of sugar apple from growers in Suoi Van village (Nghia Phuong commune) to sell at Hanoi city for recent half of month.

Most of the local fruits are consumed right after harvest with average price of 45 – 50,000 VND per kg, sometime at 60,000 VND (2.43 USD) per kg, nearly doubling the price at main season in August 2022.

The high price is resulted by low productivity of off-season fruit, sharply increased market demand, good quality of the fruit.

The Luc Nam district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development said the district has 1,730 hectares of sugar apple tree with estimated output of over 14,300 tonnes of fruit. The off-season sugar apple is expected to yield over 6,000 tonnes and harvested from the middle of November 2022 till the end of next January, 2023.

By the end of this year, the district will have 165 hectares of sugar apple with VietGAP certificate and 3 hectares with organic trend.
