(BGO) - The farmers in Hoang Luong commune, Hiep Hoa district (Bac Giang province) are now harvesting water dropwort which still enjoys smooth consumption amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Secretary of communal Party Committee Pham Minh Thao, local farmers grow more than 250ha of water dropwort, including 150 ha under VietGAP model with productivity of 1.8 tonnes per sao (old measuring unit equals to 360 square meters). The commune has eight agricultural cooperatives with 1,200 members to produce this crop.

Daily, the commune supplies 80 t0 100 tonnes of vegetable to the market with average selling price of 8,000 - 10,000 VND per kg (0.35 - 0.43 USD).
This year output is estimated at 35,000 tonnes, up over 5,000 tonnes year on year. The growers are happy to benefit from favorable weather, hence enjoying bumper crop and ease consumption.
This variety is grown and harvested from lunar July till next March, about 45 or 55 days per harvest time. It is cultivated mostly in the villages of Thanh Lam, Thanh Luong, Dai Thang, Dong Hoang and Ninh Giang.

Water dropwort is key crop in Hoang Luong commune. For recent years, the locality has focused on expanding the cultivation area under VietGAP standard. The local authority continues communicating and persuading farmers to follow safe production and strive to develop 100 percent of water dropwort growing area under VietGAP by 2025.
The processed vegetable has sweet taste and signature crunchy with much nutrition for health.
