(BGO) – Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province) is now harvesting various farm produce of custard apple, longan, melon, vegetables, roots and herbal medicines so the consumption has received due attention from the local authority.

It is the main harvest season of custard apples and longan with estimated productivity of 22,000 tonnes. Amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic, especially in Hanoi city, the consumption is switched to other provinces instead of the major capital market.

Mean while, the traders must pass many disease checkpoints and pay additional fees for Covid-19 test so they hesitate to come for buying the fruits, making the purchasing price 5,000 – 10,000 VND per kg lower than that of last year.

To date, the district has sold nearly 800 tonnes of custard apples out of 14,200 tonnes; over 2,600 tonnes of longan out of 8,100 tonnes.

According to Vu Tri Hoc, Vice Head of the district Economic and Infrastructure Division, basing on the instruction from the provincial Department of Transport, the Division recovered the immediate difficulties to allow registration of farm product transportation to sell at other provincies. The district People’s Committee is in charge of granting the travel permit through checkpoints across the nation.

More than 160 vehicles in the districts were granted with the priority card to identify “green lane” to consume agricultural products, mostly in Nghia Phuong, Luc Son, Dong Phu and Dong Hung communes.

Additionally, the district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperated with the Department of Industry and Trade to introduce businesses to buy local farm produce, establish online sale platforms for commodities from pandemic safe localities with clear origin.

The custard apple and longan growing communes should well manage the weighting points to ensure the disease preventive measures and further remove obstacles in travelling and transporting products.
