High productivity and stability
The municipal People’s Committee coordinated with the provincial competent agencies to survey, assess and propose to the provincial People’s Committee and get the approval for three concentrated areas to produce safe flowers and vegetables at three communes and wards of Song Mai, Da Mai and Dinh Tri with total area of nearly 140ha.
Owner of Sprout Production Model in Xuong Giang ward introduces the model.
To date, two hi-quality intensive flower cultivation and one vegetable growing areas have been founded in the city. The municipal competent agencies are suggesting to plan a new flower and ornamental plant producing area in 10ha at Song Mai commune as well as two concentrated fish farming areas with the scale of 60ha in Song Mai commune and Da Mai ward in the period 2021- 2030.
To develop and draw investment in hi-tech application into production, the city has implemented the Project to support the hi-tech flower and vegetable cultivation in the city in the period 2018-2020.
Particularly, the People’s Committee in Dinh Tri commune was assigned to execute the project to invest in the infrastructure of flower and farm production area covering 26ha in Dong Mau and Sau Nui fields.
The municipal budget mobilized nearly 25 billion VND (1 million USD) to support to build the bore well, preliminary processing house, refrigerating warehouse to preserve farm produce, net and membrane houses for production.
The hi-tech application in production helps bring high effectiveness with yearly income of 700 million VND (30,211 USD) to 1.2 billion VND (51,700 USD) per ha per cultivation unit of net and membrane house, up 6-11 times comparing to normal production while creating many local jobs to increase income to the labourers from 2-3 times.
The assessment identified 10 key producing models (vegetable and flower) with hi-tech application proving the effectiveness under the value chain with the productivity of advantage products (flower, vegetable) up 30 percent as well as the added value up 28 percent comparing to the 2016 figure (achieved the target).
In 2020, the city has built 12 models of vegetable and flower production with total areas of net and membrane houses of over 25,000 square meters mostly in the communes and wards of Da Mai, Song Mai, Dinh Tri and Tan My. These model follow modern and sustainable production basing on hi-tech application, qualified food safety and hygiene and environmental protection.
Drawing investment to expand the model
Apart from the support policies and mechanism from the provincial and municipal authorities, several owners of the models have invested their own capital to accumulate the land, expand the cultivation model to form huge concentrated production area (from 2 – 8ha) and build the effective production infrastructure like Dinh Tri Agriculture Cooperative, Bac Giang Clean Farm Produce Production and Service Cooperative, household of Nguyen Van Duong in Da Mai ward...
Family of Nguyen Thi Luan grows Republic of Korea’s pear shaped melon in membrane house in Nui village, Dinh Tri commune.
The hi-tech farming uses less area, labourers than traditional agriculture cultivation while the economic effectiveness is three or four fold increase.
To enhance the effective of the concentrated farming areas and regions under the municipal plan for the period 2021 – 2030 with the vision to 2050 by developing new varieties of flower and roots for higher quality and productivity to meet the market demand, it is necessary to have further attention from the local authority.
The leadership from the Party and authority should be enhanced to instruct the implementation and well conduct the governmental management on agriculture development while actively reviewing the farming plans to have suitable adjustment and supplement to draw more investment.
Additionally, the local authority should effectively conduct the policies and mechanism to support the agriculture production while arranging the capital from the budget to support and invest in the general production infrastructure to ensure the synchronous feature as the premiss of smart farming development in some concentrated flower and vegetable models in the city.
The efficiency of the linked model in agriculture should be promoted while encouraging the farmers to establish hi-tech agriculture cooperative, gather the fields to invest in general infrastructure.
