(BGO) - Saigon Co.op and the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province jointly held the lychee consumption promotion programme into the distribution system of Saigon Co.op in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of 3 June.
Accordingly, Saigon Co.op will bring Luc Ngan lychee into nearly 700 retail stores with the higher volume (increased by 25 percent) compared to the same period of last year. All of the lychee fruits will be sold in Saigon Co.op distribution system including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers and the online store of HTV Co.op.

According to Pham Trung Kien, Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op, Saigon Co.op with a number of modern retail models has become an effective bridge to bring Vietnamese commodities and local agricultural produce and specialties to consumers nationwide particularly southern consumers.
Besides, Saigon Co.op is a reliable partner of enterprises, cooperatives and producers in cooperating to boost consumption for farmers.
Thus, lychee consumption promotion program into the distribution system of Saigon Co.op is one of the activities affirming the strategy towards sustainable development in cooperation with the provinces and cities to develop Vietnamese agricultural produce following the global trend.
In particular, it is aimed to build up the Vietnam’s agriculture ensuring the criteria of food safety, organic products and international certification. Besides, it helped to link producers and consumers to enhance the values of Vietnamese fruits and reduce the situation of “rescuing” agricultural produce in coming time.

According to Tran Quang Tan, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province, the linkage among production, distribution and consumption has been proved its efficiency in the market in recent years. Particularly, the linkage between retailers and farmers thanks to introduction of local governments has sought better market for the agricultural products.
With the professional and modern distribution models and selected products meeting the export standards, consumers nationwide will be served with internationally standardised products in Saigon Co.op retail system.
Tran Quang Tan added, Bac Giang lychee products this year were evaluated with higher quality than previous years. This time, the lychee market is booming in Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province in which lychee is transported and distributed to the entire country and export markets.
