(BGO) - After more than 20 years of focusing on industrial development, Bac Giang province has obtained important achievements, getting rid of the status of a purely agricultural province that still lacks food. No success comes without efforts, perseverance, and even failure. Therefore, it is necessary to acknowledge the limitations in order to take timely solutions and draw lessons, with a view to turning Bac Giang into an industrial hub of the region.
Striving to become an industrial hub of the region
Despite many outstanding achievements, according to the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, in industrial development, the quality and effectiveness of many projects are not high and few projects have made great contributions to the local budget. Most of the projects are in the fields of outsourcing and assembling, using a large number of unskilled workers and showing low added value.

Bac Giang is identified as a center in the Nanning - Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor, connecting Lang Son with Bac Giang and other urban areas. Tapping existing advantages and potential, on July 15, 2021, the Standing Board issued Resolution No. 147 on industrial development for the 2021-2030 period, which clearly defines that the province consistently and patiently pursues the viewpoint of promoting industrial development, taking industry as the pillar and driving force for economic growth.
The province strives to have 29 industrial parks (IP) by 2030, becoming a key province in modern and sustainable industry, and one of the region's industrial development centers.
Realizing this goal, Bac Giang has become the first province in the country having its master plan for the period 2021-2030 and vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. Under the master plan, the province will zone off 10,000 hectares of land for industrial development for the period 2021-2030 with 29 industrial parks and 63 industrial clusters.
The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee has established a Steering Committee for the implementation of IP projects; assigned responsibilities to departments, agencies, localities, and investors during the implementation process in order to promptly remove difficulties and problems, shorten the time to perform tasks and ensure full compliance with the existing laws.
Infrastructure investment has been paid due attention. Bac Giang has synchronously invested in technical infrastructure, and supported investors’ access to loans from banks and investment funds. It has launched preferential policies for investors implementing social housing projects in line with the law and local reality.
Experience from practice
One of the lessons learned from industrial development in Bac Giang is to closely follow the Party's guidelines on accelerating the industrialization and modernization, with creative and suitable measures.

The second lesson is to harmoniously combine two key areas of the economy, focusing on commodity-based agricultural development to stabilize people's lives and industrial development to promote economic growth and economic structure shifting.
Domestic and foreign investment projects provide an important source of capital to meet the needs of development investment capital, while creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers, and improving people's quality of life.
The province has promptly issued guidelines and views on industrial development to create unity and uniform in the whole political system from the provincial to the grassroots level. At the same time, it has soon prepared and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval a provincial master plan to create favorable conditions for the locality to attract investment and build industrial zones. The province has synchronously invested in transport infrastructure, worker housing and social housing, etc.
With the high determination of the Party committees and authorities at all levels and the consensus of the people, as well as the improving infrastructure and investment environment, economic experts said Bac Giang can completely become a modern industrial province by 2030.
