(BGO) – Duong Van Thai, Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Board for the collective economic development (CED) on January 8 had a working session with the provincial Cooperative Union to review the CED task in 2017 and orientation in 2018.

The representatives took the occasion to suggest the provincial People’s Committee to issue the preferential policies to ease the cooperatives in capital access as well as new establishment. The local authority was proposed to annually provide from 2 – 3 billion VND (88,000 – 132,000 USD) to the provincial CED Fund and organize study trips to learn experiences from domestical and international cooperatives.
Concluding the event, Vice Chairman Duong Van Thai acknowledged the achieved results in the provincial CED task and highly appreciated the cooperatives’ crucial role in agriculture development as the key point in the chains of production and consumption.

Basically, Duong Van Thai agreed with the proposals from the Cooperative Union and requested the agency to seriously review the operation and fully follow the applicable CED regulations while taking the initiative in planning and well organizing the provincial Cooperative Union Congress, tenure 2018 – 2023.
Additionally, the Union should consult the provincial People’s Committee and the CED Steering Board on policy issuance to timely support the cooperative development for each individual period, avoiding the overlap and duplication, he urged.
Especially, the provincial Cooperative Union would carry out the research then propose the provincial People’s Committee and the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance to issue the procedures of asset affirmation and authorized guarantee so that the Cooperative can access to the credit source. Apart from that, the coordination must be reinforced among the Union, the provincial Fatherland Front’s Committee, the Politburo and socio organizations; various sources should be utilized to boost up the local CED in the near future, he said.
